New Strategic Plan aims to help residents thrive in their community

April 19, 2023 – Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) has launched its 2023-26 Strategic Plan that sets the organization’s future direction to help create a thriving community.

Cathy Jordan, Chair, ARH Board of Directors, shares how the new Strategic Plan responds to the moment and anticipates the future state:Our community is growing and aging, and hospital visits and demand for seniors care are increasing. By prioritizing strategic partnerships and access to care, we are targeting growth that will help individuals and families thrive in the community – including additional long-term care capacity, respite care, and specialized chronic disease management services.”

The MacPhie Group led the strategic planning process. They gathered internal and external stakeholder perspectives about the desired future direction of ARH by conducting numerous focus groups, interviews, an internal staff survey, and an external stakeholder survey.

In response to the stakeholder research, ARH built its 2023-26 Strategic Plan on five pillars on which ARH will focus its efforts moving forward:

  1. Person Centred Care
  2. Our People
  3. Our Infrastructure
  4. Our Partners
  5. Financial Stewardship

“The strategic plan research reinforced that staff members have a great deal of pride working for their community hospital and long-term care home,” said Leah Levesque, President, and CEO, ARH. “With a focus on our people, we will build on this pride to make ARH an employer of choice for healthcare professionals, allowing us to deliver on our commitment to the community.”

The strategic planning research also led to a revised Vision, updated Mission, expanded Values, and new Commitment:

Vision: Creating a thriving community together.

Mission: As your partner in health, we deliver compassionate, innovative, quality care each day.

Values: Honesty, Empathy, Accountability, Respect, Teamwork (HEART)

Commitment: We are committed to delivering safe, high-quality care.

To help implement the HEART values, ARH staff, and leaders formed the Living Our Values Committee, which developed a series of commitment statements to which staff and leaders will hold each other accountable.

Morgan Juby, Registered Pharmacy Technician at ARH, participated in the Living Our Values Committee: “It was helpful to bring together clinical and non-clinical staff members and leaders to discuss and determine what it means to live our HEART values. We landed on commitment statements that are inspiring and more relatable for all staff. These values also emphasize the importance of treating patients, residents, and clients not as tests or diagnoses but as people.”
