Patient & Family Advisory Council

Do you have ideas to enhance care at your Hospital?

At Arnprior Regional Health, patients and families aren’t just recipients of care, they’re partners in shaping it.

Join the Patient and Family Advisory Council and use your time, voice, and ideas to shape care at your hospital:

  • Provide input on programs and services
  • Sit on committees with hospital staff (like Surgical Services or Quality)
  • Support short-term projects that improve care
  • Join interview panels and working groups to shape our future

When patients and families speak up, care becomes more responsive and inclusive.

You don’t need to be an expert—just someone who cares.

Since 2012, our Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) has been a key part of improving care quality, safety, and patient experience. By sharing their firsthand insights, PFAC members help staff understand what truly matters—no guesswork required.

Meeting every two months, PFAC creates a welcoming space for open, two-way dialogue with hospital leadership. It builds on other feedback channels like surveys and discharge calls, bringing the patient voice directly into decision-making.

PFAC has already helped guide many improvements, including:

  • Enhancing signage and wayfinding

  • Introducing whiteboards in ER and inpatient rooms

  • Contributing to menu planning and food quality

  • Shaping the Patient and Family Handbook and Code of Conduct

  • Choosing new curtains and window coverings for patient rooms

Their impact hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“I was very much impressed by Arnprior Regional Health’s commitment to integrating the patient experience into their care process,” said Anthony Dale, President and CEO of the Ontario Hospital Association.

Patient and family engagement is a cornerstone of quality care—and a provincial priority. We’re proud to be leading the way.
