Grove Nursing Home COVID-19 outbreak update

October 23, 2020 – In follow-up to the COVID-19 outbreak being declared, the affected Grove Nursing Home staff member was retested for COVID-19 and the second test came back negative.

As per Renfrew County and District Health Unit’s direction, our COVID-19 outbreak at the Grove is not over and all restrictions remain in place as a precaution. RCDHU has also instructed for some residents to be tested as an added layer of protection, and this was completed today.

The affected staff person continues to self-isolate at home until Public Health directs otherwise. The individual will also have a third test for reassurance.

As mentioned, the Grove’s outbreak protocols are still in effect including:

  • Only one designated caregiver can visit each resident (reduced from two)
  • All outdoor visits are suspended temporarily (indoor visits are already paused)
  • Recreation programs are on hold

As we all work to stop the spread, it is imperative to stay vigilant by practicing public health measures to help protect our community from COVID-19.
