Update to masking guidelines at ARH

Effective March 6, 2024, masks will no longer be required in any area of the Hospital (including the Emergency Department), the Grove Long-Term Care Home, or Community Programs.

This decision was made based on COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses continuing to stabilize in our community, the relatively low number of hospitalizations, excellent vaccination coverage, and significant hybrid immunity.

Arnprior Regional Health will continue to be a mask friendly space. Individuals who prefer to mask will have the option to do so. Masks will remain available in multiple Hospital departments/locations, at the Grove Home entrances, and the entrance of Community Programs. Following best practice guidelines, it is strongly advised that once a mask has been removed it must be immediately discarded and not retained or reused.

When should you wear a mask?

If you are experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms, please wear a mask.

Visitors: Based on any staff’s assessment, visitors may be asked to put on a mask for the duration of their visit. When visiting patients on precautions, visitors must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during their entire visit, as indicated on the door signage. We kindly ask all visitors who are unwell to abstain from any unnecessary visits in the hospital.

Patients: Based on any healthcare provider’s assessment, any patient may be asked to put on a mask for the duration of their visit.

Moving forward, ARH will continue to monitor indicators and make additional adjustments as required.
