October 17, 2022 – Accreditation Canada has confirmed that Arnprior Regional Health (ARH) is accredited with Exemplary Standing, the highest possible level of achievement, after the four-day on-site survey of the organization in early September 2022.
“This is an incredible achievement during a challenging year and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to extend our congratulations to the team for receiving the highest possible standing,” said Cathy Jordan, Board Chair, ARH. “Being accredited with Exemplary Standing reaffirms ARH’s excellence in quality improvement and the team’s commitment to delivering exemplary care to our community.”
Leah Levesque, President and CEO, ARH, shared: “We are thrilled to receive this formal recognition of the high standard of care our teams deliver at the Grove Nursing Home, Hospital and in the Community Programs. Accreditation is an important process for us to ensure accountability to our community and to identify opportunities to enhance our operations and care practices. Congratulations to our whole team for their continuous dedication that ensures safe, quality care for our residents, patients, and clients.”
The voluntary Accreditation Canada process occurs every four years and includes an on-site visit from healthcare professionals representing Accreditation Canada who meet with staff, physicians, patients, residents, families, and volunteers to understand the Hospital, Grove and Community Program’s care practices, policies and overall commitment to quality and safety. It complements other quality measurements and provides the organization with feedback whether it is meeting the standards and provides insight on where to focus future quality improvement initiatives.
Based on Accreditation Canada’s report of their on-site survey, the ARH Team achieved 100 per cent of the required organizational practices and achieved 99.6% of the 3,200 standards and high-priority processes.
“This Accreditation process was unlike any I have experienced as our team balanced preparation with the impact of COVID-19 on our operations,” said, Raeline McGrath, VP, Patient Care and Chief Nurse Executive, who was also the ARH lead for Accreditation. “I am incredibly proud of how we continuously hold ourselves and each other to the highest standards of care and this was apparent during our on-site survey.”
The feedback from the Accreditation process will be incorporated into the organization’s quality improvement plan as part of the commitment to continuous improvement.
