A Knight in the Maritimes presented by McEwan Homes

Our 5th Annual Knight in the Maritimes presented by McEwan Homes was an incredible success.  In 2016, we raised an impressive total of $44,350. Those funds went towards the purchase of a Digital X-ray Unit.

This year, due to those listed below and along with many other generous members of the community, we exceeded the 2016 amount.  We are proud to announce our grand total of $55,500.  This amounts to $193,000 over the last 5 years.

This year we will use the money raised at this event to buy a ventilator. This piece of equipment means that our patients, who come to hospital in respiratory failure, will receive non-invasive medical intervention.

On behalf of all of the ARH Foundation Board of Directors, the staff and physicians of Arnprior Regional Health, we thank you for your continued support.

Thank you to our generous sponsors:

Music Trivia Night
Friday, March 31, 2017

Every year the wonderful staff at No Frills runs a fundraising campaign for Partners in Caring. We are so appreciative of this effort by a local business and their staff.

The Give a Little, Help a Lot campaign is a two-week campaign running from August 25 to September 8 in No Frills stores. Customers can purchase Give a Little, Help A Lot paper icons for $2 at cash registers. One hundred per cent of money raised will be donated to local charities across Canada.

The Growing Women's Health initiative at Shoppers Drug Mart begins September 10. Partners in Caring is proud to be the beneficiary of this program.

The funds raised will be directed towards a digital X-ray unit.  This unit is used across the hospital from the emergency department to the operating room.  The path to diagnosis often starts with an X-ray. Aside from the traditional uses of an X-ray of diagnosing fractures it is also used for many other purposes.
Upper Gastro Intestinal tests use X-rays to examine the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine (the duodenum). For these tests, you need to drink barium. As the barium passes through the digestive tract, it fills and coats the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine, making them more visible with X-ray. Then a fluoroscope machine is held over the part of the body being examined and transmits continuous images to a video monitor.
One of the uses is for the diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which occurs 2 to 6 times more often in women than in men. In patients with IBS, there is super-sensitivity to irritants (such as intestinal gas) that would not be bothersome to other people.
In addition the upper gastro intestinal test can also diagnose: Hiatal hernias, Ulcers, Tumors, Esophageal varices, Obstruction or narrowing of the upper GI tract.
Many women (men and children) too will benefit from this piece of equipment.

Support the cause that supports you!
